The Herd
Cows hold a rich symbolic significance, often embodying themes of serenity, generosity, nurture, and sustenance. I am frequently asked why I choose cows as my subjects. The answer lies in both personal and cultural dimensions. In some parts of the world, cows are considered holy animals, revered for their gentle and giving nature. On a personal level, my connection to cows is deeply rooted in my upbringing, as my father was a cattle farmer. While I don't eat meat, I acknowledge and respect the profound impact cattle farming has had on my life and the opportunities it has provided. My cow paintings are a tribute to these magnificent creatures, celebrating their sacredness and their role as symbols of nurturing and life-giving forces.
